Discover Inner Strength with the LIOTA Emotional Intelligence Program
Offered through the LionLike Institute of the Arts, Mindful Me is a guided social-emotional learning experience designed to help children thrive. Through storytelling, games, journaling, role-play, and interactive group work, students learn how to navigate their emotions, build healthy relationships, and express themselves with confidence and kindness.
- Emotional Literacy: Learn how to recognize, name, and understand your emotions using tools like feeling charts, color wheels, and real-world examples
- Mindful Storytelling: Use drawing, writing, and personal reflection to process emotions and explore identity
- Communication Skills: Practice clear speaking, active listening, respectful questioning, and emotional expression
- Empathy & Friendship: Build trust, resolve conflict, and practice kindness through interactive peer activities
- Self-Regulation Tools: Learn calming techniques like breathwork, visualization, and body awareness
- Confidence & Courage: Cultivate bravery and self-belief through guided affirmations, group sharing, and personal growth moments
Our Journey: 6 Weeks of Emotional Growth
This condensed 6-week program is designed to deliver meaningful transformation in a short period. Each week focuses on a key element of emotional intelligence, helping students develop life skills they can carry with them into every environment.
- Week 1: Emotions 101 Understanding and naming emotions. Introduction to emotional vocabulary, feeling charts, and body cues.
- Week 2: Communication Matters Learning how to express thoughts and feelings using “I” statements, tone of voice, and body language.
- Week 3: Listening & Understanding Active listening, repeating back, asking questions, and showing empathy in conversations.
- Week 4: Handling Big Feelings Calming tools like breathing, grounding, and self-awareness. Identifying personal triggers and responses.
- Week 5: Friendship & Boundaries Respect, kindness, personal space, conflict resolution, and how to be a good friend.
- Week 6: Celebration & Reflection Group reflection on growth, affirmation activities, sharing gratitude, and a final celebration of progress.
