Offered exclusively through the LionLike Institute of the Arts, this program immerses students in a transformative artistic experience. Participants explore multiple creative disciplines, refine their skills, and discover their unique voice through hands-on training and personalized mentorship.
- Poetry: Learn expressive techniques and forms like haikus, sonnets, and freewriting.
- Storytelling: Build narrative skills and develop original characters and plots.
- Songwriting: Craft melodies and lyrics that reflect personal truth.
- Music Production: Gain technical skills using real studio equipment and software.
- Book Production: Write, edit, and collaborate with peers to publish a professionally bound anthology showcasing student creativity.
Our Journey:
Foundations, Creation, and Performance
This 13-week program is thoughtfully structured into three intentional phases—each building upon the last to create a complete and engaging learning experience. Developed by the Poet Laureate of Pomona and led by award-winning professional artists.
- Foundations (Weeks 1–6): Students explore the core principles of poetry and storytelling, developing voice through classic and modern writing techniques
- Creation (Weeks 7–10): Hands-on sessions in songwriting and music production, learning how to turn ideas into polished creative works
- Performance (Weeks 11–13): Stage training, confidence building, and public speaking lead into a culminating event featuring a student-led showcase, book release, and award ceremony
